RYAN ASTLES came off the bench to score an added time equaliser on his debut as Colwyn Bay came from 0-2 down to draw 2-2 at home to Connah’s Quay Nomads.

First half goals from Jacob Cook and Callum West put the Nomads in control at half-time, but Jordan Davies pulled a goal back early in the second half and after dominating much of the play after that, Ryan Astles forced home the equaliser from a George Hughes corner deep into six minutes of added time.

A superb contest was watched by a record crowd of 1,612 at the Blue Turtle Arena and the result moves the Bay above Barry Town into the top five of the JD Cymur Premier’s Championship Conference..

In the first half Nomads keeper Kit Margotson had to make a couple of diving saves from Louis Robles and Jordan Davies and Aeron Edwards fired a big chance wide when the ball fell for him inside the area.

Nomads, however, took the lead with a close range header by Jacob Cook from a corner on 34 minutes and seven minutes later Callum West added a second when he was found unmarked in the area to drill a low shot into the bottom corner of the net.

The Bay made some tactical changes at half-time and got a goal back on 49 minutes when Jordan Davies scored with curling shot from a short corner and the home side pressed hard for equaliser after that with George Hughes going close with an effort just over the bar.

Nomads looked like hanging on for the win, but Ryan Astles came off the bench in added time and with virtually his first touch the big centre back, signed recently from TNS, forced home the equaliser to rescue what was a big point for the Seagulls.
