SOL FORDE got the only goal of the game as Colwyn Bay returned to winning ways with a precious 1-0 away win at Flint Town United.

His third goal of the season put the Seagulls in front in the first half and they defended well against the strong wind in the second half to secure their first away win of the campaign and move into fifth place in the Novira Cymru Premier table.

Bay dominated play in the first half, but it was 26 minutes before they got themselves in front – and again it was from a set piece.

Sam Hart took a short corner and Josh Williams’ cross into a crowded goalmouth was headed past home keeper Jack Flint by Sol Forde.

The keeper then made a good save from an Aeron Edwards shot to prevent Bay doubling their lead before half-time.

Flint had the wind behind them in the second half but were lucky not to go further behind when Lewis Sirrell slammed a shot against the bar from a long throw.

Despite increasing Flint pressure Mark Halstead was not really tested and it needed a great save by his oppossite number to turn a shot from Callum Bratley round the post for a corner.

Louis Robles came on as a late substitute for his 200th Cymru Premier appearance and Colwyn Bay showed good game management in the closing minutes to secure three big points – although the management team will want to see the team scoring more goals from open play, rather than relying on set piecces.
