BAY captain Sam Hart says the team are ready to go ahead of their JD Cymru Premier opener at home to Connah’s Quay Nomads on Sunday (Kick-Off: 5pm)

“We’ve had five to six weeks of tough work through pre-season, all gearing up for this game,” Harty said.

“Pre-season is mainly about getting back on the footy pitch, getting fit and trying to put principles in place with the new lads.

“We’ve got a big squad and there’s been a lot of minutes to try and get out to people but I think we’re in a good place now.

“They’re gelling into the team, so I feel like it’s gone really well.

“Everyone’s ready and firing now and ready to go.”

Harty is embarking on his second season as Bay captain and is one of the players remaining from the squad which played in the top flight in 2023/24.

He has also played in the Cymru Premier for other clubs including Flinr Town United and says the addition of experienced players will be crucial for the forthcoming campaign.

“This is the thing, coming into this division, you need experienced players,” Sam added.

“You need players that have been there and done it and can help the young lads around them.

“And I think with the additions that we’ve got this season, we’ve definitely got that now.

“I’m no stranger to this division, I’ve played one or two games up here, so I know what it’s all about.

“We’ve been here before with the Bay, it didn’t turn out the way we wanted it to do so we need to use that experience from last time and make sure it doesn’t happen again.”

“I’m under no illusions that Sunday’s going to be a really tough game.

“They’ve tried and tested and are  one of the top teams in the division.

“But we’re going to go into the game positive and try and get a result out of it.”
