MANAGER Craig Hogg has conveyed the club’s best wishes to former Bay defender Alex Downes who suffered a serious facial injury last Saturday.
It happened in a in a red card incident late on in Runcorn Linnet’s 2-0 FA Cup win over Liversedge.
Craig reported: “He has now left hospital having had surgery, but the real worry at the time was that Alex was unconscious for a substantial amount of time.
“You’ve got to give so much praise to Runcorn’s medical team for how they handled that situation.
“We are all very thankful and grateful that Alex was in good hands and he is now getting the best care possible in his recovery.”
A popular figure at the Bay, Alex made 48 appearances and scored four goals in his time at the club, and was the Supporters’ Player of the Year in the curtailed 2019/20 season.
