Recap

THE Seagulls secured a 3-1 Boxing Day win away to Bangor 1876 in front of a crowd of 1,000 to move 10 points clear of third-placed Holywell Town in the JD Cymru North.

The day was soured somewhat, however, by an injury to young Will McKinley who was carried off on a stretcher after a challenge which earned Bangor captain Tomos Clarke a straight red card in the second half.

The Bay were already 2-1 up by then with goals from Gwion Dafydd and Sol Forde, and Lloyd March-Hughes added a third goal late on to complete a victory which avenged the 4-0 home defeat to Bangor at the start of the league campaign.

Bangor started the brighter and Sam Hart made a fine sliding challenge to prevent an early goal for the hosts, but the Bay gradually grew into the game with Jamie Cumming shooting wide and Will McKinley hitting the post with a shot on the turn.

The Seagulls took the lead on 39 minutes when home keeper Farrar spilled a catch from Sam Hart’s free kick and Gwion Dafydd scored from the loose ball.

The Bay also had a penalty shout for a push on Gwion Dafydd waved away before half-time.

Bangor equalised four minutes into the second half when Liam Morris scored after Bay keeper Rhys Williams had made a fine save to keep out a Joe Culshaw effort.

Jamie Cumming shot narrowly over the bar and Ethan Roberts had a shot saved, but Bay regained the lead on 62 minutes with Sol Forde firing home after a strong run into the box by Lewis Sirrell.

Tomos Clarke then received his red card and Bay wrapped up the victory on 85 minutes when substitute Lloyd Marsh-Hughes drove a low shot into the bottom corner after a strong run into the area and went close with two other efforts.
