COLWYN BAY moved up to fifth in the JD Cymru Premier table after a 1-0 win away to Flint Town United, with Jordan Davies getting the only goal of the game for his fifth of the season.

The Seagulls had to withstand late Flint pressure, but held on to keep their fourth clean sheet in the last six games.

Colwyn Bay made a bright start to the game but nobody could add the finishing touch to Sol Forde’s nod down from a George Hughes corner, and a Jordan Davies’ low cross after a great run just evaded Louis Robles.

Flint defender Isaac Lee made a goal-saving interception from another cross, but the breakthrough came on 28 minutes when Jordan Davies steered the ball into the bottom corner of the net from Jamie Cumming’s cross.

Home keeper Jack Flint made a great save to deny Louis Robles, who also had a shot blocked by a last ditch tackle from Lee, while at the other end Alex Brown kept his side in front by tipping a Flint effort over the bar.

The Bay came under pressure in the second half and Alex Brown made a super one-on-one save from Darren Stephenson and Issa Kagbo put in some great work to get back and get in tackle when Flint threatened on the break.

Nathan Peate also got in a good block after good link up play between Joshua Jones and Jack Thorn for Flint.

But Bay had chances to put the game to bed with Jack Flint twice saving from Jordan Davies in one-on-one situations, tipping a Jamie Cumming header over the bar and making another good save from Ethan Roberts’ run and shot, while a brilliant recovery and tackle by Michael Burke also Jordan a second goal.

Three more points in the bag for the Seagulls, who are now only three points behind third-placed Caernarfon Town, with a home game against Cardiff Met to come on Saturday.

Only downside was an injury to Louis Robles which forced him out of the game on 62 minutes.
