Match Report
THE Seagulls couldn’t prevent Bala Town ending their their four-match losing run as they were beaten 2-1 at Maes Tegid.
That’s five games without a win for Bay, and again it was a tough one to take as they played well enough to get something from the game, but couldn’t take their chances.
Bala took the lead late in the first half and although Guto Williams headed an equaliser before half-time for his first goal of the season, Bala scored what proved to be the winner on 65 minutes.
Colwyn Bay made a positive start to the game and Bala keeper Kelland Absalom had to make a good save from Tom McCready’s 25-yard free kick, before Stefan Edwards headed a chance over the bar after good play down the right.
Nick Rushton missed out on a couple of half-chances, but keeper Alfie Brooks had to make good saves from Paulo Mendes and Osebi Abdaki before Bala went in front when a cross/shot from Ryan Rogers evaded everyone and nestled in the back of the net.
The Bay equalised in first half added time, however, when Absalom made a good save from Jamie Cumming only to be beaten by Guto William’s header from Tom MCready’s corner.
Brooks made another good save early in the second half, but after Bay had lost experienced defender Danny Holmes through injury, Bala skipper Nathan Peake scored from the edge of the area to put the home side back in front.
Udi Akpan had a couple of chances to put Bay level again but dragged a shot wide from the edge of the box and then missed the target again with a diving header.
