COLWYN BAY's first competitive game at the 4 Crosses Arena for 18 months ended in a disappointing 1-0 defeat against Ruthin Town in front of a crowd of 550.
Recap
Colwyn Bay FC 0 – Ruthin Town FC 1
The only goal of a tightly fought game came 12 minutes from the end when Ruthin’s Thomas Mann scored from a corner.
Earlier Sam Jones had a goal for the Seagulls ruled out for offside.
Llyr Morris had a shot saved and another effort blocked, while Tom McCready and Sam Jones were narrowly off target.
Manager Craig Hogg commented afterwards: “We deserved all we got today.
“I am extremely disappointed by our lack of performance – and that hurts a lot.
“After two good games away from home in the league, we’ve undone a lot of the good work.
“Ruthin deserve all the plaudits that come their way after their excellent performance and deserved win. They outplayed us and outworked us; end of story.
“It is imperative that we address the bad from this game and move on.
“We now have a 10 day break which isn’t ideal, but we have time to cover a lot of work as we prepare for the Conwy game (Tuesday, August 10th).
“Today was a bad day, but there will be good ones ahead I am sure. It is crucial we put things righty and quickly.”
