Match Report

JAMES Kirby scored four goals as the Seagulls won 6-2 at Llanrhaeadr to move back into the top five of the JD Cymru North.

Kirby opened his account for the afternoon after nine minutes finishing off from Gwion Owen’s cross and came close to adding a second five minutes later but his effort hit the post.

Captain Tom McCready had a free-kick saved before Matty Williams equalised for the hosts four minutes before the break.

Bay restored their lead three minutes into the second half when Kirby tapped in from substitute Sam Jones’ cross.

Mitch Bryant’s bicycle kick extended Bay’s lead before Kirby completed his hat-trick following excellent work from Jones.

Kirby, voted the Go2People Player of the Month for October, fired past the keeper to complete his fourth before Gus Harris scored the home side’s second goal.

Sam Jones sealed Bay’s victory with a sixth in stoppage time.

Manager Craig Hogg commented: “Three points was the objective and the lads delivered.

“James Kirby will rightly grab the headlines for his performance today and his four goals. In truth he will probably feel a little disappointed not to have scored three more in the first half, but as a number 9 performance goes he was again excellent in a Bay shirt today.

“Everyone performed well again and we took chances when they presented themselves, but the toothache for us at the moment are the goals against.

“We will continue to work hard to correct that side of our game.

“The pitch was really tough on the legs, but the lads overcame that challenge and played it well.

“It was also a big positive to see Jordan Carrington back on the pitch after four months out and his performance was also very good.

“We have a break in play now before our next game away to Bangor City (Nov 20), but for now we will keep our heads down and continue to work hard on the training pitch.”

Attendance: 124

James Kirby, who has been voted Player of the Match, is the first Bay player to score four goals in a game since Lee McEvilly hit four in a 10-0 North Wales Coast Cup win over Blaenau Ffestiniog in January 2012.
