Recap
THE Seagulls were unable to end their season on a winning note as they were held to a 1-1 draw in the Good Friday ‘derby’ at Conwy Borough.
They went behind early in the game to a Iolo Hughes headed goal from a corner, but equalised on 23 minutes with skipper Tom McCready scoring from 20 yards for his ninth goal of the campaign.
Bay dominated for spells but couldn’t take their chances to force a win, with James Kirby and substitutes Ash Woods and Sam Jones all having opportunities.
At the other end Conwy had a goal ruled out late on for offside and Jordan Carrington made a last ditch tackle in the penalty area to prevent a goal.
The result sees Bay stay fourth in the table, although Holywell and Ruthin both still have two games to play.
Sam Downey made his first senior start since breaking his leg in January and played 45 minutes before being replaced by Kieran Evans for the second half.
COLWYN BAY: Andy Coughlin, Joe Williams (Jordan Carrington 65), Stefan Edwards (Ashley Woods 65), Cai Owen (Sam Jones 36), Sam Downey (Kieran Evans 45), Tom McCready (c), Dan Parry-Jones, Craig Lindfield, Kristian Platt, Ryan Edwards, James Kirby. Unused sub: Macsen Rhys-Williams.
Attendance: 520
