Match Report

COLWYN BAY were put to the sword by Airbus UK’s on fire hit man Adam Davies, who scored all four of his side’s goals to take his personal tally for the season so far to 16.

He completed his third hat-trick in as many games as Airbus made it eight wins in a row to go top of the table.

Davies put Airbus in front after only 11 minutes and although Bay equalised through James Kirby’s first goal for the club on 23 minutes, Davies has the home side  ahead again before half-time.

Two more goals from Davies in the opening 15 minutes of the second half sealed the victory.

A goal-line clearance by Lewis Sirrell prevented Simon Spender adding a fifth for Airbus, while Bay’s rare moments of threat came from a Danny Edwards free kick which was well saved by Airbus keeper Lewis Dutton and a shot from Sam Jones which was deflected for a corner.

The Bay, stay fifth in the table thanks to Holywell Town’s last minute equaliser to deny Bangor City a win, but the top four are now starting to break away.

BAY boss Craig Hogg commented: “It has been a really bad day for us, but Airbus were worthy winners and deserved the result.

“Any excuse I could come up with would be false or unfair on our opponents. They were better than us today and although that cuts deep, it is a true fact.

“We haven’t performed to the levels we can and we were a shadow of what we are capable of.

“That is the biggest disappointment for us, especially in a big game against a top placed side in the league.

“There were a couple of changes to our starting 11 due to illness and we will have assess those players this week heading into a very important FAW Cup game on Friday night.

“We need to be better and I’m certain we will be.

“For every journey or process there are always obstacles along the way and the path ahead isn’t linear. We’ve experienced a lot of that already this season. but it is imperative that we now work even harder as a squad to make sure we straighten ourselves out and find a level of consistency un our performances.

“If we can do that then we are capable of much more this season.”
