JAMES KIRBY has taken up a new job in Sweden and he goes with the club’s best wishes, but he will certainly be missed!
He has proved a prolific scorer for the Bay, netting 35 goals in just 40 games (including four penalties) since signing from the City of Liverpool FC in September 2021.
Kirbs, whose previous clubs also include Salford City, Atherton Collieries and Leek Town, made his Bay debut against Gresford Athletic, when the Bay won 2-1, and quickly made his mark with eight goals in a run of four games during the following month – including four in the 6-2 win at Llanrhaeadr-Ym-Mochnant.
He went on to score a hat-trick in the 5-1 home win over Penrhyncoch and ended the campaign with 21 goals from 26 appearances.
Kirbs won both Manager and Players’ Player of the Season awards last season.
This season he has averaged a goal a game with 14 in 14 appearances (three of them penalties), including another treble in the 4-0 win over Holyhead Hotspur just 15 days ago in his last appearance for the club..
Seagulls boss Steve Evans commented: “Kirbs has been fantastic for us and we are sad to see him go.
“He is a great footballer and an even better person and it has been great to work with him.
“We wish him all the best. He has been a great servant to the club both on and off the pitch. The door is always open for him.”
