INJURY-HIT Colwyn Bay suffered their second home defeat of the week as league leaders Airbus UK ran out 3-0 victors.
Manager Steve Evans had to play himself in a depleted defence that was missing Lewis Sirrell, Joe Williams, Kristian Platt and Cai Owen, and although Andy Coughlin made a couple of early saves, the visitors took the lead on 21 minutes with a Jake Eyre penalty after Gaz Edwards had been brought down.
Sam Jones had a shot saved by Airbus keeper Lewis Dutton, but Airbus doubled their lead on 31 minutes when Jake Eyre scored his second following a Beau Cornish corner.
Craig Lindfield forced another save from Dutton from a Robbie Parry corner, but it needed Andy Coughlin to save from Airbus top scorer Andy Davies to deny the visitors a third goal before half-time.
Coughlin saved again from Davies before Beau Cornish secured victory for Airbus with a shot from the edge of the area 14 minutes from the end.
Although disappointed with the result, Steve Evans said: “Fair play to Airbus, they’re good at what they do … I think they’ll win the league.
“We know that result isn’t going to determine our season. We know what we’re doing – we are building for next season.
“I’m learning about each player every game and every training session.
“In adversity you find out who the characters are and the lads you can trust “
On his own appearance as a player, Steve added: “I’ve come here to manage – I’ve not come here to play.
“But needs must as we were down to the bare bones today.”
