MANAGER Steve Evans is pleased with pre-season preparations so far with the team returning to action away to Flint Mountain on Friday evening.

Saturday saw the squad take part in an in house 11 v 11 game having returned to training several weeks ago.

“The lads have come back in good condition as expected, which is what we want,” Steve said.

“This day and age is not like years ago where you’d go away for six weeks and not do anything and then turn up.

“The lads have had their programmes to do in the summer and they’ve come back in good nick.

“That gives you a head start to go into the football side of things.

“We’re looking alright. The new lads have come in, settled in well and we’re really looking forward to starting the games programme.

“We’ve done the hard graft and now is about doing the tactical stuff in the games and getting ready and ironing out the rustiness.

“We’ve had our first 11 v 11 today, which went well and we got through without injuries and we’ll be looking to build on that.

“Next week we start our games programme and we’ll have four weeks of games programme and then we’ll be ready for the start of the season.

Six players; Nick Rushton, Lloyd Marsh-Hughes, Danny Holmes, Sam Turner, Oliwier Fiedor and Dan Jones have joined the club during pre-season.

Steve added: “We’ve got one or two positions we need to fill and we’re in the process of filling them.

“We’ll be looking to add to the squad but we’ve got four or five weeks until the start of the season so I’m sure things will materialise in the coming weeks.”

Having won last season’s JD Cymru North title to secure promotion, Bay will make their JD Cymru Premier debut at home to Caernarfon Town on Sunday, 13th August.

“It’s going to be a good occasion for Colwyn Bay – first game in the Welsh Prem and a local derby,” Evo added.

“I’m stood here looking at the new stand and we’d like to think that’s going to be full.

“We’ll look forward to it but we’ll have our minds firmly set on playing how we want to play abd hopefully give our fans something to cheer about.

“But there’s a long time from now until then. We’ll play our games, do our training, prepare right and we’ll be ready for that first game.”
