BAY manager Steve Evans reflected on a tale of two halves as Bay were beaten 1-0 at Vauxhall Motors.

“I thought we started ok first 10 minutes and then we weren’t good enough – and that’s not acceptable whether it’s pre-season or not,” Steve said.

“We weren’t at it. I felt in the first half we could have really got at them and we didn’t, which was disappointing and we addressed it at half-time.

“Second half I was pleased with and we should have scored three or four goals.

The manager also gave a number of academy players a run-out at the Riveacre Park complex in Ellesmere Port.

“I would say they were five or six lads under 20 on the pitch at the end, which is great for us,” Steve added.

“And they all held their own as well.

“It’s good to bring them into the envy of the first team and hopefully they stay there.”
