COLWYN BAY fell to a third successive 3-0 defeat as Llandudno kept up the pressure on leaders Airbus UK at the top of the JD Cymru North table.
The home side were in front after only nine minutes when Danny Brookwell scored off the post from outside the area, after good play by former Bay defender Morgan Owen, and they added a second on 21 minutes through Neil Ashton’s deflected header from a corner.
Cai Owen and Craig Lindfield had long range efforts saved by Llandudno keeper Shaun Pearson, while the home side missed chances to increase their lead befofre half-time with Shaun Cavanagh shooting wide when through on goal and Bay keeper Andy Coughlin saving from Brookwell in a one-on-one.
In the second half Bay substitute Ashley Woods had a header saved, but Llandudno’s Gaz Evans volleyed narrowly wide from a corner before substitute Dean Seager added a third goal for the home side eight minutes from the end.
“We weren’t at the races and Llandudno were the better team and created some good opportunities,” Bay manager Steve Evans said.
“Second half we were much better and on the front foot but we didn’t create anything in the final third and didn’t really hurt them and they had one breakaway and scored.
“We’ve got to take positives from the second half but we’ve got to start games like that – we can’t do it in fits and starts.
“Everyone got through the game so that’s a positive and we’ll dust ourselves down and we’ll go again.
“We’ve got a massive game on Sunday and we’ll be ready.”
