Elgan Jones, Colwyn Bay’s under-16 academy goalkeeper who passed away in March, is commemorated on the club’s new goalkeeper shirts.
His name is incorporated in the numbering on the goalkeeper shirts for the upcoming 2022/23 season.
It will be worn by goalkeepers of all the teams under the club’s umbrella.
The club wanted to pay tribute to Elgan and his family have given their blessing for his name to be included on the shirts, designed by kit partners Hope + Glory and digital partners Yellow Fly Design.
“We were all shocked and heartbroken by Elgan’s passing and are still coming to terms with the loss,” said Colwyn Bay chairman Neil Coverley.
“The tributes that were paid to him at the time reflect the huge loss and also how much he meant to so many people.
“We wanted to show that Elgan remains in our thoughts and we felt that this would be a poignant tribute to him.”
