SAM TURNER scored a late winner as Bay came from behind to beat Prestatyn Town 2-1 in their latest pre-season friendly.

Bay were given a good test by a well organised Prestatyn side in a competitive and entertaining friendly in front of a good crowd at the 4 Crosses Construction Arena.

Ryan Edwards fired a shot high and wide inside the first five minutes while Prestatyn had a similar chance during the opening quarter of an hour.

Nick Rushton had a shot saved by Prestatyn’s Michael Jones while the keeper made a brilliant save to deny a header from the same player.

Ryan Edwards found himself in a hood position in the box but he scuffed his shot wide of the post.

Despite the Bay have the majority of the chances it was the visitors who went ahead four minutes before the interval with a ball over the top finding Dan Atkins, who slotted home.

Hill headed over from half-time substitute Turner’s corner early in the second half before Hill became provider for Nick Rushton to bring Bay level.

Substitute Steff Edwards fired just wide of the post while Dan Jones was denied by namesake Michael Jones .

Hill fired over the crossbar before Turner’s fine volley sealed the win with two minutes remaining for his second goal in as many games.

Manager Steve Evans said: “I thought we started the game really well, we shifted it and they couldn’t get near us.

“But the longer it went on the more frustrated we got and to be fair they scored a decent goal on the breakaway.

“We had probably two or three good chances before that but we lacked that quality in that final pass.

“In terms of effort, in terms of minutes in legs, intensity and how we try to play I was very pleased but we were very scrappy.”
