UDI AKPAN scored his second goal in three games as the Seagulls fell to a 2-1 defeat away to Connah’s Quay Nomads.
Udi’s equaliser was sandwiched between two great strikes by Nomads, who made it six league wins in a row, but the Bay were unhappy that the referee failed to show Nomads’ John Disney a second yellow card for what he ruled to be a dive to try and win a penalty.
That would have left the home side to play the whole of the second half with 10 men and was a big moment in the game.
As it was they went on to take the lead on 59 minutes when Harry Franklin arrowed a 25 yard free kick into the top corner of the net to put his side in front.
Bay, with Brandon Diau making his debut at the back, equalised four minutes later when, following a long throw in, Udi Akpan’s shot from the edge of the area whent in off Disney on the goalline.
The Nomads won it, however, with a long range screamer from Callum Bratley 20 minures from time and Bay, after a brave effort, couldn’t find a reply.
In a goalless first half Nomads twice hit the post, but the Bay worked hard to prevent them scoring, while Udi Akpan was close to getting a finishing touch to Nick Rushton’s low cross and Stef Edwards put an effort wide from a Matty Hill cross.
