It’s the final game of Phase 2 as we travel to Connah’s Quay Nomads in a 5:15pm kick off
on Saturday, with a result needed to secure the best possible position heading into the
European playoffs!
It was a disappointing last outing for Colwyn Bay which saw the Seagulls suffer a 2-0 defeat
to Caernarfon at home despite a sizeable support. The Cofis getting the better of the Bay in
what has been a frequent fixture this season, yet Bay still see themselves ahead in the
table heading into Saturday.
Securing the highest possible finish in the league, which is third, ensures that the Seagulls
would be at home for both the playoff fixtures if they were to reach the final, an important
factor considering the support we could see in both the ties.
Our opponents for Saturday have already secured European football for themselves, with
John Disney seeing his side in 2nd place in just his first season of management.
The young
manager will still be expecting a good performance from the Nomads, which could see the
last runouts for key players this season including Rhys Hughes, soon joining TNS, as well
as goalkeeper Kit Margetson, who is likely to rejoin parent club Swansea.
Recently named Manager of the Month for March Mike Wilde has praised recent
performances despite end results, but sees a consistency now in his Bay side that he
hopes will see them finishing strong, still appreciating that the club has overachieved but
can finish with European football.
