COLWYN BAY’S European dream was ended as they lost 5-3 on penalties against Penybont in the Play-off semi-final in front of a 1,539 home crowd at the Blue Turtle Arena.

Bay might have won it right at the end when Jamie Cumming fired a big chance wide from the edge of the area and then Jordan Davies saw his penalty saved in the shoot-out as Penybont converted all five of their spot kicks to progress to the final.

Neither keeper wasa troubled in the first half, with Nathan Peate heading wide from a George Hughes corner and Jordan Davies a free kick chance high over the bar.

In the second half Jordan Davies fired another free kick off target and put a header wide while Nathan Peate put another header over the bar.

Chris Venables had a great chance to put the visiotrs in front, but put headed straight into Alex Brown’s waiting hands while Jordan Davies, after firing a chance hugh and wide, saw another effort pushed for a corner by Penybont keeper Luke Armstrong.

THe big chance to win for Bay came with the last kick of the game when Armstrong came off his line to block a shot and Jamie Cumming, from the dge of the area, fired wide of a gaping net.

All that meant the tie was decided with a penalty shoot-out and while Aaron Williams, George Hughes and Lewis Sirrell scored for the Bay, Jordan Davies saw his effort saved by the keeper and Claton Green got the tie-winning spot kick after Chris Venables, Nathan Wood, Owen Pritchard and Noah Daley had all been successful from the spot.
