Colwyn Bay F.C. Foundation has been awarded £19,500 from The National Lottery Community Fund to support the development of Active Wellbeing Hubs, helping local people become more active, improve their wellbeing and build stronger connections within their communities.

The funding, made possible thanks to National Lottery players, will support the Foundation’s ambition to create welcoming, accessible spaces where people of all ages and abilities can come together, take part in meaningful activities and access opportunities to improve their physical, mental and social wellbeing.

The Active Wellbeing Hubs initiative will focus on bringing activities directly into local communities, removing some of the barriers that can prevent people from accessing traditional sport, exercise and wellbeing opportunities.

Through a combination of accessible physical activity, social engagement and community-based wellbeing sessions, the Foundation aims to tackle loneliness and social isolation, encourage healthier lifestyles and provide opportunities for individuals who may otherwise struggle to access regular activities.

The project forms part of the Foundation’s growing commitment to using the power of Colwyn Bay Football Club to make a positive difference beyond the football pitch.

Since launching, Colwyn Bay F.C. Foundation has engaged with more than 9,500 people across North Wales through its expanding portfolio of community, education, sport and wellbeing programmes.

The new investment will help strengthen this work, ensuring that community wellbeing opportunities are accessible, inclusive and shaped around the needs of local residents.

Josh Antoniou of the Colwyn Bay F.C. Foundation said:

“We’re absolutely delighted to receive this support from The National Lottery Community Fund, which represents another important step forward in our ambition to make a lasting difference across our communities.

“We recognise that improving wellbeing isn’t simply about encouraging people to be more physically active. It’s about creating opportunities for people to connect, build confidence, develop friendships and feel part of something positive.

“Our Active Wellbeing Hubs will allow us to take that approach directly into the heart of local communities, providing welcoming environments where people can participate regardless of their age, background or ability.

“We’re incredibly grateful to National Lottery players for making this possible and look forward to seeing the positive impact this investment will have on local people.”

The funding will enable Colwyn Bay F.C. Foundation to further develop its community-focused approach, working alongside local organisations and partners to ensure the hubs respond to the needs of the people they serve.

By bringing people together through activity, conversation and shared experiences, the Foundation hopes to establish sustainable opportunities that continue to benefit communities into the future.
