A FIRST half goal from Adam Davies gave Colwyn Bay a 1-0 Friday night victory over Airbus UK Broughton in front of a crowd of 1,068 at the Blue Turtle Arena.
Bay made a number of changes from Saturday’s poor performance at Caernarfon and looked better for it, although their failure to get a second goal made it a nervy seccond half as Airbus came more into the game and pressed for an equaliser.
The Seagulls dominated much of the first half and missed a number of chances with wayward finishing while Callum Bratley saw a shot blocked by a defender with the Airbus keeper out of his gound and Dan Roberts was inches wide with a header from a corner which he should have put away.
Airbus were on the back foot for much of that first half, but George Peers had a great chance to put his side in fron against the run of play only for Mark Hargreaves to make an important save with his legs in a one-on-one.
The Bay did finally take the lead on 39 minutes with Adam Davies’ header from Sam Hart’s cross finding the bottom corner of the net.
Aibus cme more and more into the game as the second half progressed but they put a couple of chances over the bar and Hargreaves made another good stop low down to his left.
A lengthy VAR review denied Bay a possible penalty for a foul from a corner and they had another good shout waved away by the referee before Dan Roberts saw a shot deflected just over the bar in the closing minutes.
In the end three welcome hard-eaned points for the Bay who temporarily move back into the top half of the table.
