ALEX DOWNES is set to make his 50th appearance for the Seagulls when the team face Flint Town United in the MG Nathaniel Cup at the 4 Crosses Arena on Tuesday (August 9, 7:45 kick-off).

He returned to the club this season from a spell with Runcorn Linnets, having originally come on loan from Chester in 2018 and being named Supporters Player of the Season in the curtailed 2019/20 campaign in which he scored the match-winning goal away to LLanrhaeadr.

The Bay beat Flint 3-1 in a pre-season friendly, but know Tuesday will be a different game.

“We learnt a little about them but they will have learnt a bit about us as well so we are expecting a tough game,” says manager Steve Evans.

Striker Matty Hill, who scored his first league goal for the club in the 2-2 draw at Llandudno, added: “These are the games you want to be competing in and its a chance to put out a bit of a statement as we want to be up there competing with them in Welsh Prem hopefully next year.”
