Today, our Colwyn Bay Development Team kicked off their season against a highly experienced Newtown side, and although the outcome wasn’t what we hoped for, our young squad displayed grit and determination throughout.

In the first half, Bay showcased their defensive prowess by limiting Newtown to just a few goal-scoring opportunities. The lads fought tenaciously on the field.

Newtown managed to find the net on the 12th minute, taking the lead. Despite this setback, our Bay warriors continued to battle valiantly against their seasoned opponents. The first half concluded with Bay trailing by just a single goal, a testament to their resilience and effort.

The second half brought a renewed spirit from Bay as they created several promising opportunities, but breaking through Newtown’s well drilled and experienced defence proved to be a challenge.

Despite our best efforts, Newtown managed to find the net twice in the second half, extending their lead with the final score ending 0-3.

Manager Steve Giblin said that ‘the lads fought well against one of the best teams in the league. Newtown will certainly be up there challenging at the end of the season, and to restrict them to the number of chances they had was some performance. If the lads play with the same intensity and work ethic then we’ll do well this season. Keiran Jones and Ben Preater were both very good as was 16 year old Josh Davies when he came on.’
