CAPTAIN Tom McCready scored in stoppage time to earn Colwyn Bay a dramatic 3-2 win at Prestatyn Town in the JD Cymru North.

McCready’s winner secured a 16th successive league victory for the Seagulls and extended their lead at the top of the table to nine points.

Cai Owen, making his 51st appearance for the Bay, had earlier scored twice to give his side a 2-0 interval lead at Bastion Gardens.

His first was a first time finish from a tight angle and his second, a left footed finish, came following good  work by Craig Lindfield.

Bay could have been three goals up at the break but Lindfield had a penalty well saved by Josh Cooke.

Prestatyn responded after the break and Tom Hilditch pulled a goal back three minutes into the second half before Dan Atkins levelled with 16 minutes remaining.

But McCready secured a dramatic winner in injury time when he ran onto a flick on and slotted past Cooke and maintain Bay’s winning run.

Bay manager Steve Evans said:

“Massive three points. They are the games that win you the league.

“First half we were the dominant team and we could have gone 3-0 up with the penalty but didn’t and to be fair to them they came out second half and really had a go at us and caused us all kinds of problems.

“They’ll be gutted but we believe in the process and we keep going – we’ve done it two or three times this season and it just shows the belief and the character within the squad.”
