Match Report

THE Seagulls were in seventh heaven as they won 7-1 away to Cefn Druids to go three points clear at the top of the JD Cymru North table.

James Kirby scored twice, but pick of the goals was a 40 yard screamer from Tommy Creamer in the second half, after Cen Druids had Tom Reilly sent off for a second yellow card.

The Bay made a great start and were 1-0 up inside three minutes when Kirby back-heeled the ball into the net from close range following a Tom McCready corner.

Cefn Druids equalised on 17 minutes with shot from distance by Joshua Roseberry-Beamond following a poor clearance from Ryan Woods, but two goals in two minutes quickly put the Bay back in control.

Stefan Edwards scored with a right-footed shot in off the post from the edge of the area and then Kirby headed home from a great cross by Cai Owen to make it 3-1.

Joe Williams fired home a fourth after a good move involving Tom McCready and Cai Owen and McCready was close to adding a fifth before half-time with a free kick narrowly wide of the post and a shot from distance that just cleared the bar.

The Bay made changes at the interval with Dylan Allshorn and Sam Downey coming on for Lewis Sirrell and Kristian Platt, with Guto Williams and Sam Hart moving centre of defence, and it took a little while for Bay to adjust to the new formation.

Stef Edwards shot over the bar from a promising postion, but after Reilly’s dismissal, for a late tackle on Cai Owen, Tom Creamer extended Bay’s lead on 70 minutes with that screamer and after three more substitutions, with Jamie Cumming coming on for his debut, the Seagulls added two more goals in the closing minutes,

Dylan Allshorn scored from the penalty spot after late tackle on Matty Hill, and then Hill scored from a Cumming cross.

Manager Steve Evans said everybody contributed but had a special word for Tommy Creamer. “To score a goal like that with a volley from 40 or 50 yards was unbelievable and a very special little bit of skill.

“Some of the free-flowing football we played was there to see and that is credit to the players and the hard-work they’ve been putting in.”

COLWYN BAY: Ryan Woods, Joe Williams, Stefan Edwards, Cai Owen (Jamie Cumming 75), Lewis Sirrell (Dylan Allshorn 45), Tom McCready, Guto Williams, Sam Hart (Ryan Edwards 75), Kristian Platt (Sam Downey 45), Tom Creamer, James Kirby (Matty Hill 75).
