Match Report
SECOND half goals from Sam Hart and Kristian Platt saw Colwyn Bay make it 20 league wins in a row with a 2-0 home victory over Gresford Athtletic.
A goalless first half saw them twice hit the woodwork and visitors keeper Matt Busby made saves from Joe Williams and Cai Owen, while Tom McCready shaved the bar with a free kick.
The Bay also had a strong penalty shout waved away when Cai Owen appeared to be brought down in the area.
Gresford were a threat on the break with Jack Crichton having to make good saves from Dominic Deacon’s good run and a header from George MacCready.
In the second half Busby did well to turn a Tom Creamer shot onto a post and Lewis Sirrell had one shot held by the keeper and another, from 25 yards, was just over the bar.
The breakthrough, however, came on 58 minutes when Sam Hart scored with a close range header at the far post from Cai Owen’s cross.
Ten minutes later Tom Creamer provided the cross for Kristian Platt to get his fourth goal of the season with a towering header.
Tom Creamer had a chance to add a third in the dying minutes when Bay were awarded a penalty, but saw his spot kick saved by Gresford’s star man Busby.
