Match Report

TWO goals in two minutes saw the Seagulls come from a goal down to remain unbeaten this season and progress to the next round of the WBS League Cup with a hard fought 2-1 victory at Ruthin Town.

Much of a scrappy game was played in the middle thid, but the home side took the lead on 11 minutes with a back post header from Will Williams.

After home keeper Ryan Goldston made a fine save from James Kirby, Ryan Edwards equalised with a volley from outside the area on 26 minutes and two minutes later a cross from skipper Tom McCready was diverted into his own net by Ruthin defender Joe Sullivan.

In the second half Dylan Allshorn shot wide following a great run by James Kirby and a cross from Guto Williams just evaded Kirby at the far post following a Tom McCready corner, but Bay, who made five second half substitutions, couldn’t add to their lead against a Ruthin side for whom this was their first defeat in four cup games this season.

COLWYN BAY: Cameron Darling, Joe Williams (Alex Downes 57), Stefan Edwards, Sam Downey, Ryan Edwards (Guto Williams 57), Tom McCready (Tom Creamer 78), Jamie Cumming (Cai Owen 67), Dylan Allshorn, Sam Hart, Kristian Platt, James Kirby (Matty Hill 67). Unused subs: Ryan Woods and Sam Fowles.
