Match Report
TWO first half headed goals from Sam Hart secured a 2-0 away win at Porthmadog to restore Colwyn Bay’s 12 point lead at the op of the table.
That made it 25 league wins in a row and, on the anniversary of their last defeat in the JD Cymru North (at Llandudno one year ago on March 11 2022) it extended their unbeaten league run since then to 30 games.
This turned out to be a tough game, but in the end it was another deserved win for the Seagulls.
They had an early scare when Gareth Jones-Evans shot narrowly wide for the home side, but Matty Hill saw a good effort go narrowly over the bar and Bay saw Jones-Evans scramble the ball off the line, before Bay took the lead on 27 minutes with Sam Hart’s third goal in six games from Tom McCready’s set piece.
Four minutes before half-time he doubled the lead with a leaping header from another Tom McCready’s free-kick into the area to put Bay 2-0 up at the break.
Porthmadog had more of the ball in the second half, but could make little headway against a strong Bay defence and Sam Hart was close to completing his hat-trick with a diving header from Tom McCready’s free kick which went narrowly wide.
McCready was just wide from Dylan cross and Matty Hall had a shot saved after a good run down the left, with Dylan Allshorn seeing his shot from the rebound blocked in the goalmouth as Bay were denied what would have been their 200th league goal since returning to Welsh football.
