A BIG second half performance by the Seagulls failed to save them from a 1-0 defeat at Cardiff Met University.
Home keeper Alex Lang, who has yet to concede a goal this season, made some fine saves, but the Bay had at least two big chances to beat him, while Tom Creamer was unlucky to hit the bar and Bay had a big shout for a penalty waved away.
The Bay had to defend for much of the first half and conceded the only goal of the game on 23 minutes when Sam Jones wasfired into the top corner of the net from 10 yards after good build-up play.
Bay keeper Alfie Brooks had to make several saves to keep his side in the game at half-time.
Changes at the interval saw a much better performance from the Seagulls inj the second half and Tom Creamer was unlucky to see his shot from 20 yards cannon off the crossbar.
Lange had to push away a couple of long range efforts and the referee waved away two Bay penalty appeals, the first for a hand ball and then a big shout when Udoyen Akpan looked to be brought down in the box.
Bay should have scored, however, when Uni Akpan put Nick Rushton through on goal, but Lang came off his line and made himself big to save his side.
Lange then saved again when more good work Akpan played Lloyd Marsh-Hughes.
The keeper also saved a Guto Williams header from a free kick
Cardiff threatened to extend their lead in added time, but Alfie Brooks saved from Harry Owen and Brandon Roberts to cap a good performance by him.
