MATTY HILL came off the bench and changed the game as the Seagulls came from behind to beat Penybont 2-1 and move out of the bottom two in the JD Cymru Premier table.
Matty scored one goal and set up the other for what was a huge win.
The Seagulls were a goal down at half-time with Penybont’s Keyon Refell scoring from a corner in added time at the end of the first half.
That was harsh on Bay who played quite well and moments earlier had had a goal of their own from a corner ruled out for a foul on the keeper.
Tom Creamer blasted a chance wide when put through by Udi Akpan’s flick on, and Dan Jones had a shot saved by the keeper after a great pass from Tom McCready.
At the other end Joe Smith made a fine save to tip a long range effort over the bar.
Bay made a scrappy start to the second half, giving the ball away too easily at times, and Joe Smith had to make another good save diving low to his left.
The introduction of Matty Hill, however, brought instant success.
He levelled the scores on 68 minutes with a great finish after Udi Alpan’s dummy from Jamie Cumming’s pass wrong-footed the Penybont defence.
A long throw by Matty almost caused an own goal, but Bay got the winner on 76 minutes when Matty destroyed the Penybont left back and crossed for Udi Akpan to turn and blast a shot into the top corner.
Bay had their backs against the wall in the closing minutes as Penybont pressed for an equaliser, but they held out for an important win which took them above Pontypridd United.
