Recap

MATTY HILL scored in a late Seagulls assault after coming on as a second half substitute, but it was too little too late to prevent a 2-1 home defeat against Penybont.

With Aberystwyth Town and Pontypridd both winning, it was a damaging result for the Bay who drop to bottom place in the table and with a lot to do in their remaining nine games.

Penybont had the better of the first half in very wet conditions and took the lead right on half-time when Chris Venables latched onto a deep cross from Kane Owen, and they doubled their lead on 56 minutes when Lincoln McFayden swept the ball past the onrushing Joe Smith.

They were unlucky not to go 3-0 up when Gabriel Kirclough hit the post.

Colwyn Bay tried hard to get back in the game in the last 20 minutes and Udi Akpan had an effort cleared off the line and missed the target with another big chance.

Visiting keeper Alex Harris saved from Tom Creamer and Tom McCready volleyed narrowly over the bar before Matty Hill scored from close range in added time after Harry Owen’s effort had been blocked.

COLWYN BAY: Joe Smith, Alex Downes (Matty Hill 48), Harry Owen, Dan Davies, Sam Hart, Sam Downey (Tom Creamer 68), Owen Cushion, Tom McCready, Jamie Cumming, Udoyen Akpan, Dan Atkins. Unused sybs: Szymon Tyszko, Stefan Edwards, Adam Mitter.
