JOSH DAVIES has some excellent goals for the Under-15s this season and added to his tally with a superb long range effort and a perfectly placed free kick at the weekend to be included in this week’s Colwyn Bay FC Academy Players of the Week nominations.

 The full list is:

UNDER-16s: MEICAL DAVIES: Meical has been improving week on week since joining us and has hardly missed a training session.

Always a feisty, tough competitor, who always challenges for the ball, his work rate is to be admired

We’ve been working recently on his positional understanding and to be fair, along with the excellent James (who pushed him close for POTW this week), Miec has really started to implement it into his game.

Rewarded with a goal in his last match, we would like to see Meical using that impetus to add further goals during the rest of the season. Well done Meical. Paul and Anthony (U16 coaches).

UNDER-15s: JOSHUA DAVIES: A great striker of the ball, Josh has scored some excellent goals this season and added  to his tally this week with a superb long range effort and a perfectly placed free kick.

Solid as always at the back Josh isn’t afraid to get forward, pushing the opposition back. Well done. Russ and Zac (U15 coaches).

UNDER-14s: ELLIOT BULLOCK: Elliot has gone from strength to strength taking on more and more technical and tactical information and demands placed on him. Understanding the game from a different light and adapting to it has be a joy to watch. Well done. Paul (U16s coach).

UNDER-13s: TOBY JONES: Toby put in a fantastic performance this weekend against Prestatyn. He worked tirelessly, pressing the opposition high up the pitch to force Prestatyn into making mistakes and then create something from them.

Toby has been working hard in training on his off-the-ball movement and this is definitely starting to pay off. His running off the ball caused all sorts of problems for Prestatyn and this in turn opened up space for his teammates to exploit.

On the ball he was fantastic as well. His strength and power was quality and he more than deserved the goal he scored.

Asked to play out on the right as well as through the middle, he was comfortable in both roles.

Toby gave one of his best performances to date in a Colwyn Bay shirt and completely deserves this week’s Player Of The Week.

Well done Toby superb. Keep up the hard work mate. Lee Bubb (U13s coach).

UNDER-11: JOSH PARRY: Josh has shown a great attitude this last week coupled with a strong match performance.

He has shown a superb willingness to learn, improve and grasp tactical concepts. This paid dividends in the game against Prestatyn where he not only showed a willingness to play in several different positions to help the team, but also a competence when playing in different positions.

Superb this week. Keep up the hard work. James (U11 coach)

UNDER-10s: OLLY OWENS: Olly has been superb this week and I can really see his confidence starting to grow week by week He put in a outstanding display against Prestatyn making three key saves in the first half, keeping us in the game and giving the boys confidence to go on and score some goals.

He also has become more comfortable playing out from the back which is what we have tried to work on over the past couple of weeks and all the information I have given him has stuck . Well done Olly, keep up the hard work. Mason Blackwell Jones (u10 coach)

UNDER-9: KIAN MILLS: Kian has had a solid week this week in both training and match. Kian has demonstrated his determination to get up and down the wing from either defence or midfield and use his pace to cause problems for the opposition. This was displayed in the match where Kian beat his player for pace countless times while also using his eye for a pass to set up some of the goals scored. Well done Kian, keep working hard. Joe Fitzpatrick (U9s head coach).

UNDER-8s: JACOB GRIFFITH:  Jacob was outstanding in the re -rranged game against Prestatyn. His running with the ball was superb. He kept the ball nice and tight whilst moving at pace, kept his head up and played some great balls into dangerous areas.

His positional awareness off the ball was very impressive as well, anticipating the opposition passes well and cutting them out and looking to get the team back on the front foot.

Defensively Jacob is always sound and his pace and determination broke up a lot of Prestatyn’s attacking play.

An overall very impressive performance Jacob. Superb effort mate. Keep up the hard work. Lee Bubb (Head of Foundation)
