THE Seagulls have reached the last 16 of the JD Welsh Cup after a 3-1 away victory at Carmarthen Town.

Goals from Jordan Davies, Lewis Sirrell and Louis Robles secured the win, with Uniss Kargbo named Sgorio Man of the Match.

The Bay made the perfect start and were 2-0 up inside 22 minutes.

Jordan Davies scored direct from a free kick to the left of the penalty area, with a shot that dipped over the keeper and went in off the far post on seven minutes, and then when a George Hughes corner was cleared back out to him his second cross was thumped home at the far post by Lewis Sirrell.

Carmarthen had more possession in the last 20 minutes of the first half, but the Bay defended solidly to maintain their lead at half-time with Rhys Williams, back in goal for the Bay, rarely troubled.

Aaron Williams had a couple of efforts that were narrowly off target before Louis Robles scored Bay’s third from a goalmouth scramble on 68 minutes.

The Bay then lost skipper Louis Robles with a hamstring injury and Carmarthen were able to pull a goal back with a good header from Liam Thomas with 10 minutes to go, but the Bay saw out the game fairly comfortably with the Kargbo twins impressing with their work rate and Ethan Roberts getting through some good work on the left.

With The New Saints and Connah’s Quay Nomads both going out of the competition this weekend, the Bay will be hoping for a home tie in next week’s draw for the next round.
