Mike Wilde and Danny Harrison were pleased to start off the new Novira Cymru Premier season with a 2-0 win over Trefelin at The Blue Turtle Arena on Friday evening.
First half goals from Jordan Davies and debutant Adam Davies earned victory in front of a crowd of 1,039.
Wildey said: “We’re really pleased. We’ve done something the football club haven’t done since me and Danny have been here which is win our opening league game.
“That’s a massive tick and from a performance point of view – especially the first 20-25 minutes – we asked the lads to do it a certain way and try and get a foothold in the game and we did that very early.
“I thought we settled down and we went in 2-0 at half-time which is testament to the lads for the way they approached the game and it could have been a lot more if I’m really picky.
“Because we had a lot of entries into the box, we asked a lot of questions. So the first half really went to plan.”
Danny added: “When I look back at previous games and attendances at previous opening games of the season we knew that we really wanted to put on a show.
“Mike covered it when he was doing his team talk, how important the crowd are to us and how much we expected them to come out in force and really get behind the lads.”
