COLWYN BAY opened the new Cymru Premier season with a 2-0 home win over Trefelin in front of 1,039 crowd at the Blue Turtle Arena.
Jordan Davies and Adam Davies, on his league debut for the club, got the goals in the first half, and although Trefelin had more of the ball in the second half, the Seagulls will be pleased to have come out of the first game with a clean sheet.
They got off to a great start with a goal inside the opening two minutes as Jordan Davies scored at the back post, following a long throw by Matty Hill, and should have doubled their lead when Louis Robles put Jordan through one-on-one with the keeper but Scott Coughlin did well to smother the ball as Jordan tried to go round him.
Sol Forde had a header cleaed off the line and Jordan Davies fired a chance over the bar from another long throw.
The Bay, however, did double their lead on 37 minutes when Adam Davies was put through one-on-one with keeper and made no mistake.
Jordan Davies sent an inswinging corner onto the roof of the net and Bay had a goal disallowed from another long throw before half-time.
In the second half Ryan Astles brought a fine save from Coughlin with a header and Jordan Davies lifted another chance over the bar/
Callum Bratley was then wide with a shot from the half-way line with the keeper out of his ground.
Trefelin bossed possession for periods in the second half, but apart from a good one-on-one save, Mark Halstead did not have a lot to do thanks to some solid Bay defending.
