COLWYN BAY’S four-match winning run in the Cymru Premier was ended with a 1-0 away defeat at Briton Ferry Llansawel – despite the home side playing most of the second half with ten men.

The only goal of the game came from a penalty right on on half-time, and although British Ferry had Ricky-Lee Owen sent off for a bad tackle on 54 minutes, the Seagulls couldn’t make the extra man advantage count/

The home sside had two early corners before Colwyn Bay forced a couple good saves from home keeper Will Fuller, had a penalty shout turned down and saw another effort cleared off the line.

Just before half-time, however, Coleyn Bay conceded a penalty following a free kick into the area and Tom Walters converted the spot kick to put his side ahead.

The ten men defended their box well after the sending off and in fact missed a couple of great chances on the break to double their lead.

Colwyn Bay pressed hard in the closing stages and although they went close with a couple of efforts, they rarely troubled the keeper in what they will surely see as a very disappointing performance and result.

Mike Wilde commented afterwards: ““We didn’t recover from how Briton Ferry started and we weren’t able to get ourselves into the game.”
